Andy English was born in Norfolk but has lived in the Fens for nearly thirty years. He is a full-time professional wood engraver, producing illustrations, exhibition prints and bookplates (exlibris). He is an elected member of the Society of Wood Engravers and the Cambridge Drawing Society and his work has been exhibited worldwide.
All of his designs are engraved into woodblocks, often using a magnifying lens, and printed on one of the Victorian Albion handpresses in his studio in Little Downham. Everything he does is based on his meticulous drawings.
He often bases his personal images on what he sees on his regular walks around the village and describes his work as “unashamedly small scale, rural and autobiographical.”
